Galvanizing Test

You are here:

What is Galvanising Testing?

Galvanized testing is used to evaluate the quality and performance of galvanized steel, which involves applying a zinc coating to steel for corrosion protection. These tests ensure the zinc coating adheres properly to the steel, has the correct thickness, and provides the desired level of corrosion resistance.

Galvanizing tests assess the quality and performance of zinc coatings applied to steel or iron. These tests can be broadly categorized into visual inspections, coating thickness measurements, and adhesion/mechanical tests. Visual inspection checks for defects and uniformity of the coating. Coating thickness can be measured using magnetic gauges or microscopy. Adhesion tests, like the stout knife test, evaluate how well the zinc adheres to the base metal.
